Riso EZ220U
EZ220[edit | edit source]
Sequoia Fabrica has a Riso EZ220 on indefinite loan.
It came with a Fluorescent Pink drum, which it appears was converted from a Black drum. We have a separate black drum.
Risos are resource intensive. To be economical, consider situations where you will print 25+ copies. If you are just testing consider using the back side or printing over your initial work.
The machine can accommodate paper up to 11x17 but only print up to an 8.5x14 area.
As of September 2024 we have a USB interface for the machine and are working to install it. Currently the only way to interface with the Riso is to scan your document on the glass plate!
How To Use[edit | edit source]
- Plug in machine
- Make sure the machine is on (power switch can be found on same side as power cord)
- Unfold paper trays on both sides of machine
- Review operations. This video is short and straight-forward.
- Put the machine in master making mode and scan your document to create a stencil
- A stencil will be made and the machine should move to print mode.
- Select a number of copies and print your document!
Addressing Common Issues[edit | edit source]
- You start up the machine and it says H401 and won't do anything. Press Start to continue. If you see other error codes, check the technical manual, Chapter 17 (pg 301).
- Like many printers and photo copiers, safe to touch areas of the assembly are marked in green. If cleaning a jam or making a repair involves orange or unmarked areas consult Slack or a Riso technician.
- If the scanner bed is dirty, clean it with windex / glass cleaner.
- It may take 5-10 copies for your prints to fully ink.
Suggested Donations[edit | edit source]
This machine is new to us, so we're still learning about it. We're trying to break even on supplies and maintenance, be able to afford more drums for this community resource. We look forward to working with more zine makers and artists in the Bay Area.
- $1-4 per master stencil
- $0.08-0.25 per copy (we recommend you bring your own paper, we have limited stock available)
You can Donate Here.
We are happy to support projects printing for public service distribution. If you have the means consider donating more, we'll use it to resupply and maintain the machine!
