Volunteers

Volunteers run classes, provide maintenance, or help out in other agreed upon ways to benefit the community in exchange for some access to the workshop. Instructors do not receive keys, but they have access under our Volunteer Hosting Policy.

The most common option is hosting at least one affordable class each month. This is a volunteer role, we don't allow instructors to get paid for their classes. It is supposed to be a way to encourage the broader community outside of our membership to get involved and share their knowledge, while also receiving the benefit of accessing our online communications channel and some access to equipment for personal projects.

We are seeking volunteers looking for a long-term commitment. We'd like to build community with our volunteers, members, and guests, and having a certain level of investment in the community is important to us. If you are interested in volunteering, as a baseline, consider you will need to spend 2-4 hours each month in service of the community. Ideally, we want volunteers who can commit to at least 6 months. The exact date and time of your volunteering can be flexible.
